Kirkin' of the Tartans 10-29-2017
Today WPPC celebrated Reformation Sunday by conducting a "Kirkin' of the Tartans" during our church service. This is a Scottish tradition from many years ago which we, and other Presbyterian churches, enjoy each year. Kirk is a Scottish word for church and the ceremony involves a Procession of the Pipers (bagpipers), a Raisin' O' the Tartans, Blessin' of the Tartans, a musical presentation by the the Pipers, the singing of 'Amazing Grace,' and the Recessional of the Pipers and church flags. Many of our members wear Scottish clan scarves, kilts, skirts, etc., in honor of the event and we enjoy fellowship and Scottish shortbread in Fellowship Hall after the church service.
