Pentecost, New Members, and All That Jazz 5-19-2013
Busy day. At the 1030 service we welcomed new members and then celebrated Pentecost with Robert Ray's Gospel Mass. This multi-movement work featured the Chancel Choir and soloists with a piano, bass, and drum set accompaniment. Afterwards we had lunch in Fellowship Hall and heard Eddie Needham, MD present "Caring for Your Body from Heaven's Perspective." Then, at 5 P.M., we had a jazz concert featuring Gregory Seel, Evan Ellman, Mick Morelly and Matthew Mignardi - they're teenagers, but if you closed your eyes you would have thought the music was being played by professional, world famous musicians. Man, were they good. We'll see them on TV in the future for sure. The crowd was small due to rain. The folks who did not come really missed out.
